Many Continental European countries (particularly Germany in my experience) have another kind of WC with a sort of ledge at the back where solid matter is deposited for 'inspection' apparently. There's a small lower part filled with water leading to the drain in front of the ledge. On flushing, the solids are flushed away; it all works pretty well in my experience.

I never noticed that bowls in the Europe or the UK have less water than ours... I'll have to look next time!
Miss Ginger pees standing up... you can always tell a real woman from a drag queen, because a drag queen will have makeup on the hem of her dress!
They surely do. You'll find the perfect example - clearly illustrated in too much graphic colour.
It's the state of the toilet as I found it on the hospital ward during my stay in hospital in August 2008.
But, it's not a pretty sight!

I agree - toilets should be taller to prevent splashing. But short people may have trouble sitting down on them.
