Deferred gratification or delayed gratification is the ability to wait in order to obtain something that one wants.I want a new home cinema system. People who pay close attention will immediately have noticed that I didn't say I need a new home cinema system. If I had said that I needed one it would have been more untruthful than not...
My new cinema system (it's already personal; referring to it as my rather than the tells me the decision is made) will have to be blu ray. That will future proof sufficiently for when I upgrade my tv.
But I know that to really appreciate the benefit that this new piece of kit will bring, I should also have an HDtv; which will be an LEDtv.
And then I should upgrade to Sky HD...
Let's see how long I can hold out.
I don't really need a new tv. The one I have is pretty good. I bought it just before Christmas 2004, when I also subscribed to Sky, the immediate excuse being the relaunch of Dr Who in 2005. I wanted a clear picture and the ability to "video" record onto a hard drive.
Just after Christmas 2003 I bought a Sony 250Gb media centre computer. A year before it was the current home cinema system.
I've read the Saturday paper (that is with the exception of the magazine section - Xfe's still reading that).
I'm up and down, at the computer and not.
There's a bottle of champagne in the fridge which has only had 2 small glasses poured from it, and although it's only 1.12pm I'm already thinking about pouring a glass.
It's only the fact that Xfe is here and I know that he'd frown upon it that keeps me from doing so.
The sun is shining. I want to go out (but at the same time it really is too much effort, especially if it is without purpose).
All about me
I want to do something productive; sitting here, tapping on the keyboard is not productive enough.
I want to make home craft-this year's Christmas presents already; it's not too early to make flavoured vodka, for example, that I can give to friends and family...
Ever notice how many paragraphs in this blog begin with "I"?
